Do you know what an inspiration has the greek song Misirlou been for foreign artist?   Misirlou is a folk song -rebetiko. The oldest version probably dates back to 1927 when the song was performed by Tetos Demetriades. Misirlou became very popular in Western culture through Dick Dale’s American surf rock version in 1962. Afterwards several version have been recorded while in 1994 Quentin Tarantino reused Dick Dale’s version in his film Pulp Fiction. Then it has been also used in Black Eyed Peas song “Pump it” (2006) and in the episode”The Jet Set” (2008) of the American series Mad Men.
